Katy Perry’s loyalties were clearly divided for the U.S. vs. England World Cup match over the weekend, so she decided to root for both teams.
The American pop star, who is engaged to a Brit comedian Russell Brand, squeezed herself into a cleavage-popping, hip-hugging, rubber minidress designed with half-British flag, half-American flag.
But the cross-pond love story almost didn’t happen. Perry was told the dress, which was made especially for her, was on a delayed flight to the U.K., where she was being interviewed on James Corden’s World Cup Live talk show.
“Another amazing race for a dress has happen again….plane had 2 emergency stop cuz someone passed away mid flight! So sad,” she tweeted.
“So we’ll see if the dress makes it in time…If not, my world cup convo is gonna take a beating on the chat show.”
Since the game ended in a tie, her attire — which sported Old Glory and Union Jack — seemed to be the perfect pick. Perry said she was pleased with the 1-1 score.
“EVERYBODY WINS!!! I LIKE THAT!,” the long-legged singer later tweeted. “Plus as an american marrying a englishman…I am DIVIDED.”
