The news comes soon after the report that the couple had gone to India to celebrate Christmas. They had also tweeted pictures of their stay in India, including some snaps of monkeys, a henna tattoo that Katy Perry had obtained while in India and also a picture in which the couple poses in front of the Taj Mahal.

Apparently, Katy Perry and Russell Brand got engaged about a week back, approximately. It has been reported that Russell Brand had popped the question to his girlfriend in the traditional way, complete with a ring. Apparently, Russell Brand had decided to ask her on New Years Eve, after the couple had been blessed by a love guru. In fact, the news has not come as a surprise to all and sundry, particularly as the man had been spotted out shopping for a ring recently.

There are some contentions on the matter whether Russell Brand and Katy Perry have admitted to the rumor or not.
