American singer Taylor Swift has topped a poll to play the part of Supergirl, which appeared in a comic strip in 1958. An industry insider says that the “Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl. A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spin-off and Taylor is top of that list. She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls.”
Taylor Swift will play Supergirl in a remake of the 1984 movie, which starred Helen Slater in the lead role. The award-winning country music star Taylor who had a turn in the upcoming ensemble-dating flick Valentine’s Day, is viewed as one of the few actresses fit for the tricky role of a female hero.

That’s quiet a clean sweep. She said that she would never forget this moment. “I’ll never forget this moment because in this moment, everything I ever wanted has just happened to me,” an emotional Taylor said before inviting the members of her band onstage to share the spotlight with her.
